Tonight we’re just sort of lying around watching shows.. My mind has been buzzing again with so many daydreams about this baby girl. My mom and I went to Babies-R-Us so she could check out the car seat we like, and to possibly buy the stroller that matches it. I don’t think we’ll be away from the baby long enough in the beginning for my mom to get use of a stroller that holds the car seat... I suppose that she doesn’t even need a stroller, because she won’t be with the baby all the time and we’ll just have to remember to bring ours. I’d rather have her spend the money on diapers :)
So our stroller is a Baby Jogger City Mini. Super neat and we’ve used it for two of our friends’ babies. It has been very easy to maneuver and it folds up by grabbing a thin strap near the crease of the seat. It’s like a transformer.. seriously no fuss. I have always had trouble getting strollers to close, pushing two buttons at the same time, then getting it to fit in the car, etc. This thing is super lightweight, plus it folds up to a little more than half the size of a regular stroller (your typical 4-wheeler that will hold a car seat). One of the features that I am looking forward to having is all the attachments you can add on, likaasss=e different types of cup and do-dad holders for you and baby or more storage underneath the seat, and so many other possibilities. Especially nice is the attachment that holds the car seat we like, although you have to buy that separately.
The car seat we have picked out is a Baby Trend, and although it’s not a Peg Perego or Maxi Cosi, it actually fits in the Jetta!! We tried a LOT of safe car seats before we found that the Baby Trend fits better in the Jetta than any other, and that knocked the Peg Perego out of the running.. as fancy and beautiful as the PP was. I think my mom is a little disappointed that we’re not getting a super cute girlie car seat, but my philosophy is that I’d really like to be able to use it again if our next baby is a boy. Getting a pink car seat with butterflies just won’t work for me if that’s the case. Granted there are a lot of other seats with cremes and lighter colors that would work for both girls and boys, the car seat that works best in our car is the Baby Trend. I really don’t like their neutral colors so we're buying the black one plus a separate cover with a beautiful green print. It’s also not that important that the car seat matches the stroller, but I just think it would be cute if it did. Plus black is kind of drab, but it's the cheaper one and that's how we justify buying the cute cover!
Well, I really wanted to get around to introducing our plans for a home birth, but I feel pretty exhausted (I promise you Nelly that I will write about it really soon, maybe even tomorrow night). Today has just been a sick day and I have an exam tomorrow. I was up until 6:30 this morning because of my crazy insomnia and I need some extra sleep tonight. I do want to mention that my next post will probably be quite emotional and a sort of pouring out of my heart. I have been putting it off because I haven’t had a lot of energy, and I usually feel a bit on the defensive even before I begin talking about it, just like extended breastfeeding and breastfeeding in general (yet another topic!).
Hope everyone has been having a good week and Baby “E” is definitely saying hi (kick kick roll). I need to videotape my belly because you can actually see her kicking and rolling her feet against the inside.
