Natural home birth videos

Above photo is a still from the “Business of Being Born” video.

I was in one of those birth video moods tonight. Sometimes when I’m feeling down I youtube the latest home birth videos and they always help me feel better in so many ways. Not just from a preparation-standpoint, but they really do fill my heart. Seeing these women cry with joy as they hold their newborn babies to their chest just turns me into mush, and I can’t imagine a greater moment in life. Without videos like these I would not be as confident as I am today about giving birth. I am putting these links up because I feel it is important for more women and families to know that birth can be a calm and beautiful event, without the intervention and chaos we so often see in the movies and on baby shows. As much as I believe in home birth and natural birth, I respect a woman’s right to choose the type of birth she wants. I support interventions like pitocin and epidurals when they are necessary, as my own clients have had to resort to these methods to avoid a cesarean. I also support cesareans when they are absolutely necessary to save the life of a mother and child.

Above all, I believe in the education of women and their partners in order to make informed choices about the birth of their babies. I hope you enjoy these videos as much as I do.

*These videos potentially contain nudity and blood, both of which are normal during birth.
